The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that information security positions, such as a cybersecurity analyst, will be in “very high” demand in the coming years. In the decade between 2014 and 2024, the field of cybersecurity will grow by 36 percent. That is much higher than the average growth rate for all professions, which the BLS puts at 7 percent. This demand extends to both government jobs and the private sector. The U.S. government, for example, has hired several thousand civilian cybersecurity analysts to work for the Department of Defense.
