What is an Anesthesia RN?

Anesthesia RNs, also known as nurse anesthetists or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), are advanced practice registered nurses who specialize in administering anesthesia and monitoring patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort. These nurses assess patients' medical histories, prepare and deliver anesthesia, and manage pain relief. Becoming a CRNA typically requires a master's or doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia and national certification.
