What is an academic intensivist?

Academic Intensivists are physicians who specialize in the care of critically ill patients, usually within an intensive care unit (ICU), while also being involved in academic activities such as teaching, research, and quality improvement. They often hold faculty positions at medical schools or teaching hospitals and play a key role in educating medical students, residents, and fellows.
