Nationally recognized Pilates certification and current CPR/AED required.

The salary range for this position starts at $25.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.

1. Job Summary:

The Pilates Reformer Instructor develops and teaches apparatus classes with the option to take on private clients. Instructors provide safe, effective, and motivating classes for participants to help them achieve their fitness goals.

2. Essential Functions:

  • Awareness and use modifications based on client's acute or chronic conditions to ensure safety in class plans
  • Be available to promote and instruct demos to increase interest in Pilates programs
  • Communicate with class participants to update about changes in classes as needed
  • Create, plan, and teach reformer/ apparatus classes
  • Maintain all administrative tasks including keep accurate class attendance, accurate time sheets, finding appropriate substitute teacher coverage, maintain current availability, be able to communicate with supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain current CPR and credentials and CECs to stay current on new fitness trends
  • Option to add on Mat Pilates classes to the group exercise schedule, additional group exercise certification required
  • Option to add on private clients to build schedule as desired

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Health and Wellness Director/ Senior Health and Wellness Coordinator. The instructor works closely with the other Health and Wellness Professionals, supervisor, member services, and building/maintenance staff. The instructor should address members by name and encourage participation in activities.

4. Qualifications:

Required

  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/PR and AED.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an individual/group and motivate others to achieve their health and well-being goals.
  • Demonstrated ability working with all age groups and ability levels.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Certification or Training from Nationally Accredited Pilates School (Balanced Body, Stott, Polestar, Club Pilates, Etc.)
  • Attend and successfully complete within 90 days of hire

Preferred

  • 1 year of experience teaching Pilates apparatus classes

5. Work Conditions:

Ability to conduct classes and activities relating to fitness.

Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time.

Exposure to music volume ranging from moderate to loud.

Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
