YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth Employment Application
As a YMCA Group Exercise Instructor, you will lead, engage, and motivate members in group fitness classes, promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles. You will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive class environment, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare group exercise classes that are safe, effective, and fun.
  • Deliver classes that meet the needs and preferences of diverse participants.
  • Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and modifications to accommodate all fitness levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with class participants.
  • Create a welcoming and motivating environment for all members.
  • Offer encouragement, support, and positive reinforcement.
  • Ensure that all exercises are performed safely and effectively.
  • Monitor class participants to ensure proper form and technique.
  • Respond promptly to any accidents, injuries, or emergencies according to YMCA protocols.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new exercise techniques, and best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing YMCA training and development programs.
  • Maintain required certifications and seek additional relevant certifications.
  • Ensure the fitness studio or class area is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Report any equipment issues or facility concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment as needed.

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Nationally recognized group exercise certification (e.g., AFAA, ACE, ACSM, or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor) required.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first 30 days of employment).

Experience:
  • Previous experience teaching group exercise classes.
  • Experience working in a community-focused organization or fitness center preferred.

Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging and effective group exercise classes.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, and fitness principles.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all fitness levels.

Work Environment:
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical ability to demonstrate exercises, lead classes, and assist participants with physical activities
