About the Internship

As a multi-site, $25 million organization spanning two states, the YMCA of the North Shore offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable finance and accounting experience in a large non-profit organization. Interns will learn key financial principles and corporate practices that can be applied throughout their careers.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including:
Journal entries, account reconciliations, cash receipts, and deposits
Accounts payable invoice entries and financial reporting
Gaining insight into contributions, grants, investments, and fixed assets
Preparing and analyzing financial reports
Developing professional communication and time management skills
Building introductory-level expertise in enterprise accounting systems
Exposure to month-end close processes, accounts payable/receivable, reporting & analysis

Beyond finance and accounting, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Internship Details
  • Duration: 14-16 weeks (one semester, or based on school requirements)

  • Hours: ~20 hours per week (based on internship criteria)

  • Location: Beverly, Cummings Center

  • Compensation: $15.00 per hour

  • Perks: Free YMCA membership for the duration of the internship & discounts on YNS programs

How to Apply

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until filled. Internships are posted the semester before placement.

 
  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, with the ability to learn and apply new functions quickly.

  • All interns must complete and submit an application to be considered for a position with YNS.

  • Some educational institutions require prior approval before starting an internship. It is the student’s responsibility to verify and meet any requirements before accepting the position.

  • Interns must work with a hiring manager to submit and complete an internship learning agreement, which must be reviewed by the Director of Operations, Executive Director, and HR Office.

  • Interns may only participate in one internship (paid or unpaid) within the YNS organization at a time. Requests for consecutive internships will be reviewed by the intern managers.
