Job description

The Gateway Region YMCA is one of the leading nonprofit charitable organizations in the St. Louis metropolitan region, with a focus on nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors. For more than 170 years, the Y's mission has been to put Christian principles into practice through programs designed to build healthy spirits, minds and bodies for all. We do that by being the center of communities, serving more than 260,000 individuals annually through 25 traditional Y facilities located in St. Louis City, eight Missouri counties and six Illinois counties, as well as YMCA Trout Lodge and YMCA Camp Lakewood, the YMCA Community Development Branch, and our Washington University Campus Y Branch.   • Performs daily cash management, monthly bank reconciliation, and maintenance of recurring journal entries; reviews and prepares non-recurring journal entries.

  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts, including but not limited to, bank/credit drafts.

  • Processes returned checks and drafts in the accounting system.

  • Receives grants and income and prepares the deposit and cash report.

  • Processes office petty cash and replenishes accounts as needed.

  • Prepares and analyzes the monthly financial statements in relationship to the budget, prior year, and strategic plan. Assists branches with the analysis of their financial statements.

  • May serve as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities.

  • Assists with month end and year end closings.

  • Completes a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.

  • Reconciles bank statements and writes up journal entries.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
