    Job description

    The Treasure Valley Family YMCA is seeking an Accountant I to join our team! This position provides day-to-day support to the accounting team and helps ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with established procedures and internal controls.

    Schedule:

    This is a full-time position at 40 hours weekly with benefits. Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday, within normal business hours.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with recording cash receipts, deposits, and revenue transactions.
    • Reconcile deposits and payment activity to bank and accounting records.
    • Prepare routine journal entries under the direction of senior accounting staff.
    • Perform assigned bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
    • Assist the accounting team with monthly closing activities.
    • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
    • Respond professionally and timely to accounting questions from staff and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree, or within one year of graduation, in Accounting (preferred), Finance, Business, or related field.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
    • Understanding of accounting principles.
    • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial information.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard office applications.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
