Job description

The YMCA of Central Ohio is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. As a cause-driven leader, you will manage financial functions, including budget preparation, expense analysis, financial reporting, reconciliations, and facilitating audits. You will also assist in payroll, month-end close processes, and bank deposits, while supporting various projects and initiatives.

  1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  2. Performs financial functions which may include preparation of budgets, expense analysis, periodic invoicing and financial reporting obligations and reconciliations.
  3. Facilitates and assists with financial audits.
  4. Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger, balance sheet and subsidiary accounts.
  5. Assists in the payroll process in a manner which ensures accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  6. Participates in the month end close process by creating and posting journal entries.
  7. Responsible for monthly reporting of 3rd party memberships.
  8. Prepares and executes bank deposits.
  9. Assists in department and association projects and initiatives, as needed.
  10. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth. Participates in required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adheres to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  11. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism is expected from our staff.
