    Job description

    This Opportunity

    WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Electrical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team in Dallas, Texas.

    This opportunity is ideal for a motivated early-career professional looking to launch and grow their engineering career while working alongside industry-leading experts on a broad range of building projects. You will support the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, science & technology, federal, and civic facilities.

    As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will gain hands-on experience throughout all phases of project development, from planning and design through construction administration, while receiving mentorship and professional development support to help advance your career.

    Your Impact

    • Assist with the design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
    • Support engineers in developing construction documents, technical specifications, calculations, and reports.
    • Participate in electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop analyses, and lighting calculations.
    • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and other engineering software to develop project designs and documentation.
    • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, plumbing engineers, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders.
    • Assist with site visits, field investigations, facility assessments, and construction observation activities.
    • Support the preparation of engineering studies, reports, and technical presentations.
    • Review shop drawings, product submittals, and requests for information (RFIs) under the guidance of senior engineers.
    • Maintain a strong understanding of applicable building codes, electrical codes, and WSP quality standards.
    • Participate in project meetings and contribute to successful project delivery.
    • Continue developing technical knowledge through mentorship, training programs, and professional development opportunities.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
    • 0-1 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
    • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
    • Basic understanding of electrical power systems and building electrical design principles.
    • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous internship, co-op, or design experience in consulting engineering, construction, or building systems.
    • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, AGi32, SKM, ETAP, or similar design software.
    • Exposure to healthcare, commercial, higher education, federal, or science & technology projects.
    • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
    • LEED Green Associate or interest in sustainable building design.
