    General Job Description
    Position Overview
    As a Trimble Technician, you will specialize in performing precise on-site layout and verification for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems using Trimble hardware. In addition to field layout, you will assist with the design and coordination of projects that leverage Trimble technology, utilizing CAD software, BIM models, and as-built documentation to produce accurate layouts and ensure installations align with design intent and project specifications.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Perform detailed layout and stake-out for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems using Trimble equipment, including Robotic Total Stations and Total Stations.
    • Conduct periodic as-built surveys, field measurements, and installation verification for multi-trade MEP systems, excluding fire sprinkler systems.
    • Convert, import, export, and integrate field measurements and layout data using CAD/BIM software, including AutoCAD, to produce accurate field drawings and project records.
    • Develop, coordinate, and maintain Trimble-ready models, point files, and layouts for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems using CAD/BIM software and project design documents.
    • Assist project teams with constructability reviews, multi-trade coordination, and clash resolution to ensure layouts are accurate, coordinated, and installable before construction begins.
    • Review architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings to identify potential layout discrepancies, spatial conflicts, and design coordination issues.
    • Coordinate penetrations, sleeves, hangers, equipment locations, underground systems, overhead systems, and other installation points across multiple trades.
    • Work closely with MEP team members, BIM/VDC personnel, project managers, and site supervisors to address layout discrepancies, design conflicts, and field conditions.
    • Produce and maintain organized field documentation, annotated sketches, point tables, layout files, as-built documentation, and CAD/BIM drawings for project records and stakeholder communication.
    • Update CAD/BIM drawings and layout files to reflect approved design changes, RFIs, coordination decisions, and verified field conditions.
    • Validate layout points, elevations, control points, offsets, and equipment locations before releasing information for field installation.
    • Maintain, inspect, and calibrate Trimble devices and related equipment to ensure reliable operation and measurement accuracy.
    • Ensure proper data logging, file naming, version control, backups, and validation of layout and as-built information.
    • Ensure all layout, modeling, coordination, and design-support activities comply with applicable codes, project specifications, approved construction documents, company standards, and quality requirements.
    • Communicate layout status, discrepancies, and required corrections clearly to project stakeholders.
    • Follow all company safety procedures and project-specific requirements while working on active construction sites.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Previous experience as a Trimble Operator, Construction Surveyor, or similar role in MEP sectors.
    • Proficiency with Trimble hardware (Robotic/Total Stations) and data management.
    • Excellent ability to interpret and work from building plans and mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings.
    • High attention to detail, ensuring precision in measurements and layout.
    • Strong communication and team collaboration capabilities.
    • Additional certifications-such as industry-specific CAD or surveying credentials-are a plus but not mandatory.
    • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
    • English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
    • Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
    • High school diploma or GED preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
    • Stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
    • Sit for extended periods while driving to and between job sites.
    • Work on active construction job sites, indoors and outdoors, including uneven terrain and elevated spaces, with exposure to varying weather, construction noise, dust, and other job site conditions.
    • Wear safety gear such as Personal Protective Equipment.
    • Possess the visual acuity necessary to read construction plans, interpret measurements, and safely operate precision instruments and related equipment.
    • Safely operate Trimble equipment, tools, and precision instruments in active construction environments.
    • Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet project and operational needs.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.
    • Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
    • Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
    • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment
    • Primarily field-based role on active construction job sites with exposure to varying weather conditions.
    • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, including in unfinished buildings and uneven terrain.
    • Exposure to typical construction site conditions such as noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
    • Requires adherence to all safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Occasional office or trailer-based work for CAD updates and documentation.

    • Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
