    Role Overview

    SKIMS Beauty is seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior Packaging Designer to help shape and execute the packaging vision across our growing beauty portfolio.

    This role will be responsible for developing elevated, innovative, and highly functional packaging across primary and secondary packaging, translating the SKIMS aesthetic into a distinctive beauty experience. The Senior Packaging Designer will work across concept development, design, prototyping, and production, partnering closely with Creative, Product Development, Marketing, Operations, and external vendors.

    The ideal candidate combines exceptional taste and design sensibility with a strong understanding of beauty packaging construction, materials, manufacturing, and production. This person is highly detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where multiple products and launches are moving simultaneously.

    Key ResponsibilitiesPackaging Design & Concept Development
    • Develop innovative packaging concepts across SKIMS Beauty, including primary packaging, secondary packaging, sets, gifting, promotional packaging, and special projects.
    • Translate the SKIMS brand identity into a distinctive and cohesive packaging language for Beauty.
    • Create concepts from initial ideation and sketching through detailed design development, mock-ups, and final production.
    • Explore form, material, color, finish, typography, graphics, and functionality to create elevated and recognizable packaging.
    • Balance creativity and innovation with functionality, commercial viability, cost, sustainability, and production requirements.
    • Create compelling presentations, renderings, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
    • Maintain consistency across the portfolio while continuing to evolve and elevate the SKIMS Beauty packaging identity.
    Technical Development & Production
    • Translate creative concepts into technically viable packaging solutions, with a strong understanding of materials, construction, decoration techniques, and manufacturing processes.
    • Develop and manage dielines, mechanical files, artwork, specifications, and production-ready files.
    • Review prototypes, samples, color proofs, materials, finishes, and production submissions to ensure execution meets the original creative vision.
    • Partner closely with Product Development and Packaging Development to troubleshoot technical challenges and identify creative solutions.
    • Understand the opportunities and limitations associated with components including glass, plastics, metals, paper, cartons, labels, closures, pumps, applicators, and other beauty packaging formats.
    • Maintain exceptional attention to detail throughout development and production.
    Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Creative, Product Development, Brand Marketing, Operations, Sourcing, and Production throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with external packaging suppliers, manufacturers, agencies, and production partners to deliver exceptional results.
    • Work within established timelines, budgets, and launch calendars while maintaining a high creative standard.
    • Participate in design reviews and confidently present concepts, recommendations, and solutions to senior leadership.
    • Respond quickly to feedback and evolving business priorities while protecting the integrity of the overall design vision.
    Innovation & Brand Evolution
    • Stay informed on emerging beauty packaging, materials, manufacturing technologies, sustainability innovations, and broader cultural and design trends.
    • Continually identify opportunities to improve the consumer experience through packaging innovation, functionality, and design.
    • Explore new materials, finishes, structures, and production techniques that can differentiate SKIMS Beauty within the global beauty landscape.
    • Contribute to the development of packaging guidelines and systems that create consistency as the Beauty business scales.
    Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
    • 6+ years of packaging design experience, ideally within beauty, cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, luxury, fashion, or a highly design-driven consumer brand.
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated packaging design, concept development, structural thinking, and production execution.
    • Demonstrated experience designing both primary and secondary packaging.
    • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, print production, finishes, and decoration techniques.
    • Experience taking packaging from initial creative concept through development, sampling, and final production.
    • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
    • Experience with 3D design, rendering, or visualization software is highly desirable.
    • Strong understanding of typography, color, composition, materials, and physical product design.
    • Experience partnering directly with packaging developers, suppliers, manufacturers, and production teams.
    • Beauty industry experience and knowledge of beauty packaging components and manufacturing processes strongly preferred.
