Reporting to the Chief Architect, this role sits at the center of Prudential's technology strategy. You will define thetarget state security architecture, influence the most critical technology decisions across CIO organizations, and lead a team responsible for ensuring security isbuilt in by design, not bolted on after delivery.

This is a highly visible leadership role for a senior security architecture leader who thrives at enterprise scale - someone who can balancerisk, resilience, and velocity, partner effectively across technology and business teams, and help shape the future of security within a modern financial services organization.

Your Team & Role

The Global Technology organization at Prudential is seeking a Vice President, Security Architecture. This role leads the enterprise security architecture function and is accountable for establishing and maintaining security architecture standards, patterns, and processes that protect information and technology assets while enabling business outcomes.

As a member of Global Technology's Architecture leadership team, this role collaborates closely with architecture peers across Solution, Data, Infrastructure, and Platform domains, as well as with CIO organizations and engineering leaders across the enterprise.

What You Can Expect on a Typical Day

As Vice President, Security Architecture, you will operate as anenterprise thought leader, decision authority, and enabler, working across technology and business teams to define how Prudential builds secure platforms and products.

You will:

  • Define and evolve Prudential'senterprise security architecture vision, including target state roadmaps aligned to business strategy, regulatory expectations, and technology modernization efforts.

  • Establish and maintainenterprise security architecture patterns, reference architectures, and standardsthat are secure by default and designed for reuse and scale.

  • Drive adoption ofmodern security architecture principles, including Zero Trust, identitycentric security, defenseindepth, and resiliencefocused design across applications, platforms, infrastructure, and data.

  • Partner with cloud, infrastructure, application, and data architecture leaders to guidecloudnative security architecturesacross AWS and Azure environments at enterprise scale.

  • Shapeplatformcentric and productaligned security models, embedding security patterns, guardrails, and policybased controls into delivery and engineering workflows.

  • Serve as adesign authorityfor significant architectural initiatives, reviewing and approving key designs to ensure alignment with enterprise security strategy while balancing risk, speed, and business outcomes.

  • In partnership with data architecture and governance teams, define the enterprise approach todata security, access, and provisioning, ensuring alignment with data governance objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Build, lead, and develop a highperformingsecurity architecture team, with accountability for talent growth, performance, and architectural excellence.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to CIO organizations and senior technology leaders, providing guidance on security architecture trends, emerging risks, and opportunities to modernize and simplify the security landscape.

  • Applyapplication portfolio and capability management practiceswithin the security domain to identify opportunities for modernization, rationalization, and value realization.

  • Stay current on industry and technology trends - including cloud platforms, security automation, and emerging technologies - and translate those insights into pragmatic, enterpriseappropriate architectural strategies.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring

Education & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent relevant experience; advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) inenterprise security architecture, information security, or technology risk, including senior leadership roles with accountability for strategy, standards, and outcomes across large, complex organizations.

Enterprise Security Architecture & Strategy

  • Proven ability todefine, lead, and evolve an enterprisewide security architecture vision, translating business strategy, regulatory requirements, and risk posture into clear targetstate architectures and multiyear roadmaps.

  • Deep expertise inmodern security architecture principles, including Zero Trust, identitycentric security, defenseindepth, and resiliencefocused design.

  • Demonstrated success establishingenterprise security standards, patterns, and reference architecturesand driving their adoption across federated technology organizations.

  • Strong judgment and credibility serving as adecision authorityfor complex architectural tradeoffs.

Cloud, Platform & Product Security Leadership

  • Extensive experience guidingcloudnative security architectureacross AWS and Azure environments at enterprise scale.

  • Ability to shapeplatformcentric and productaligned security modelsthat enable secure reuse and consistency across teams.

  • Experience influencing the integration of security intomodern delivery models, including automation, infrastructureascode, and policybased controls.

  • Strong understanding of governing security indistributed engineering environmentswithout creating unnecessary friction.

Data, Identity & Emerging Technology Security

  • Deep understanding ofenterprise data security, including access control, encryption, and alignment with data governance and regulatory objectives.

  • Expertise inidentity and access management (IAM)as a foundational architectural capability across applications, APIs, platforms, and data services.

  • Awareness ofemerging technology risks and opportunities, including advanced analytics, AI/ML platforms, and highly distributed systems, with the ability to translate them into architectural guidance.

Leadership, Influence & Outcomes

  • Demonstrated successinfluencing senior technology and business leadersacross CIO organizations without direct authority.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex security architecture concepts to technical and executive audiences.

  • Proven experience building and leadinghighperforming security architecture teams, with accountability for talent development and succession.

  • Strong prioritization and outcomeoriented leadership skills, balancing risk, speed, and enterprise value across multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Continuous learning mindset with intellectual curiosity and resilience in navigating change and ambiguity.

What we offer you:Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $221,900.00 to $333,000.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
