Job description

Agility's commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers-tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.
About Agility Robotics
Agility Robotics is at the forefront of developing humanoid robots designed to operate in real-world environments. Our mission is to build robots that seamlessly integrate into human workflows, solving complex challenges in logistics, manufacturing, and beyond. As we scale our deployments and accelerate product development, we are looking for a Staff System Validation Engineer to execute rigorous system-level verification and validation for our humanoid robot platform.
Location
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area with short term travel requirements to Salem,OR.
About the Role
As a Staff System Validation Engineer at Agility Robotics, you will be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for designing and executing comprehensive system-level verification and validation of our fully integrated humanoid robot. Once the robot is assembled as a complete system, you will develop, run, troubleshoot, and report on test plans that validate the robot meets all requirements for product acceptance. You will work closely with Systems Engineering, Software, Controls, and Product Management to ensure what we build works as intended in real-world customer environments.
This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with solid testing experience in complex electromechanical systems who is ready to take on meaningful ownership of the validation strategy in a fast-moving robotics environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute system-level V&V test plans for fully integrated humanoid robots, working with Systems Engineering to translate requirements into testable validation criteria with clear pass/fail metrics and traceability
  • Design and execute end-to-end system validation tests across the fully integrated robot including full-body manipulation and locomotion, human-robot interaction, safety systems, environmental and operational scenarios.
  • Extend validation coverage through simulation environments including regression testing at scale, rare failure modes, edge cases, and sim-to-real fidelity validation.
  • Apply AI-assisted analysis techniques and modern data tooling to process large validation datasets, identify failure patterns and behavioral anomalies, and continuously sharpen test strategy based on empirical signal from the field and lab
  • Support functional safety verification and validation activities ensuring compliance with ISO standards, including safety-critical function testing, fault injection, and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) or Performance Level (PL) verification
  • Develop automated test scripts and contribute to test infrastructure including fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enable repeatable, scalable validation
  • Prepare and present clear validation reports, test results, and risk assessments to engineering leads and stakeholders, contributing data-backed input to go/no-go decisions

Required Qualifications
Experience
  • 10+ years of system-level verification and validation experience in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, aerospace, or similar complex electromechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience using robot simulation environments to develop and execute test cases, generate synthetic test scenarios, and support regression testing at scale.
  • Experience testing complex robotic or electromechanical systems including manipulation, locomotion, or similar multi-DOF systems
  • Familiarity with safety-critical system validation and functional safety standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or ISO 26262
  • Experience in fast-paced product development environments balancing rigor with speed

Technical Skills
  • V&V Expertise: Solid understanding of verification vs. validation, V-model processes, test design techniques, and requirements traceability. Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing
  • Robotics Fundamentals: Working knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, control systems, sensing, and actuation sufficient to effectively test and debug robotic systems
  • Test Automation: Proficiency in Python or similar languages for developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Test Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Troubleshooting: Strong debugging skills across hardware-software integration issues in complex systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with one or more robotics simulation platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, Gazebo, or Webots.
  • Experience validating machine learning-based software components or models, including working with software integration teams to define acceptance criteria, manage model versioning, and assess behavioral drift or regression across releases
  • Exposure to functional safety certification processes (TÜV or similar)
  • Experience contributing to or mentoring junior engineers on test methodology
