  • Establish and drive clear, effective, and innovative solution designs aligning to The Hartford's reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies across our Digital properties, with a focus on AI and strategic thinking.
  • Translate strategy into endtoend solution designs spanning mobile, responsive web, APIs, microservices/microfrontends, data, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Produce option analyses and decision records balancing strategic alignment, security, reliability, complexity, and cost.
  • Design solutions leveraging SaaS and Native Cloud architectures and services, focusing on rationalizing and modernizing assets.
  • Advance digital identity and zerotrust patterns across experiences; ensure alignment with enterprise security standards.
  • Partner with value streams on roadmaps and increments; ensure designs meet nonfunctional expectations and are operable (telemetry, SLOs, runbooks).
  • Evaluate and land emerging Technologies where it demonstrably improves outcomes.
  • Align to architecture governance: reviews, permits to build, conformance checks, and pragmatic exceptions when warranted.
Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, or senior engineering roles within a largescale enterprise environment.
  • Proven Small Commercial Industry Experience
  • Demonstrated impact designing cloudnative solutions (AWS/Google), APIs and integration patterns including:
    • Microservices and service oriented architectures
    • Event driven and API based integration patterns (SOAP, REST)
  • Handson experience applying GenAI/ML to production use cases; familiarity with agentic architectures, RAG, semantic search, embedding models and LLMs.
  • Expertise with digital identity/CIAM and modern auth (OIDC/OAuth2) and aligning to enterprise security standards.
  • Experience developing or designing single-page applications utilizing contemporary frameworks such as Angular/React.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions utilizing Microservices or API-based integrations with a clear understanding of JSON, REST, and HTTP standards.
  • Clear understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud, and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.
  • Fluency in platform and product thinking, solution KPIs, reliability engineering, and cost management.
  • Strong written, verbal, and influence skills-comfortable engaging senior leaders and mentoring engineers across a matrixed org.
  • Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Cloud certifications and architecture certifications are strongly preferred.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$131,600 - $197,400
