Description

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft Cloud & Security) is responsible for the administration, support and operational maintenance of the organization’s hybrid infrastructure and identity environments. This role ensures the stability, availability, and security of enterprise systems across on-premises and Microsoft cloud platforms.

This position serves as the senior technical resource for core Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity management, and cybersecurity solutions. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer partners closely with the Network/IT Operations Manager to implement technology initiatives, support operational excellence, and drive continuous improvement efforts across the technology environment.

This role is highly hands-on and focused on operational execution, incident response, technical leadership, and continuous improvement across infrastructure and cloud services. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer may provide project leadership, technical direction, and mentorship to other members of the technology team while serving as a senior technical resource and escalation point, but the role does not include direct people-management responsibilities.

This role is fully onsite Monday – Friday in Des Moines, Iowa.

What You’ll Own
  • Windows Server & Infrastructure Administration: Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services. Lead installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting of server roles and services. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while maintaining system stability, security and availability.
  • Microsoft 365 Administration: Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams. Lead user and license administration, support complex troubleshooting efforts, and maintain security, compliance and governance standards across the environment.
  • Identity & Access Support (Entra ID / Azure AD): Administer and enhance identity and access management services using Microsoft Entra ID. Lead the implementation and troubleshooting of Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, role-based access control, and application integrations. Serve as the technical lead for hybrid identity management and resolve authentication and synchronization issues.
  • Endpoint Management (Microsoft Intune): Lead endpoint management initiatives using Microsoft Intune, including device provisioning, application deployment, configuration management, compliance monitoring, and endpoint security. Establish and maintain standards that ensure devices remain secure, compliant, and effectively managed throughout their lifecycle.
  • Hybrid Identity, Security & Operational Support: Support hybrid identity environments using AD Connect while overseeing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. Lead incident response efforts, conduct root cause analysis, develop operational documentation, mentor team members, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.
What Sets You ApartExperience:
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, cloud administration, cybersecurity, or related technology disciplines.
  • Previous experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or serving as a technical lead with strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure services.
  • Advanced experience managing Microsoft 365 environments in an enterprise setting.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including identify, authentication, and access concepts.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with security practices including MFA, patching, and access control.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Industry certifications preferred (Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
  • Ongoing professional development in cloud infrastructure, identity management, and cybersecurity strongly encouraged.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Strong ability to communicate technical issues clearly to team members and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven collaboration skills across IT teams, business leaders, and external vendors.
  • Customer service mindset with focus on responsiveness and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and grow technical capabilities in cloud and security domains.
Other Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving across infrastructure and cloud systems.
  • Experience leading system monitoring, patching, and operational stability.
  • Experience with technical documentation and maintaining support procedures/ runbooks. Exposure to automation or scripting is a plus.
  • Ability to support Tier 2/3 escalations under guidance from Network/IT Operations Manager.
