Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is looking for an Engineer II at our corporate office in Portsmouth, NH. The Engineer is responsible for performing various engineering tasks and handling a wide range of engineering projects, while becoming familiar with WIN Waste engineering and construction policies, standards, and procedures. The Engineer will be involved with research, development, design and testing of systems or equipment at operating power plants, each application with unique and challenging requirements. They will be responsible for participating with project development teams and plant maintenance projects from conceptual design, permitting, site construction, start-up, and acceptance testing. Will complete assigned engineering projects in accordance with approved permits, defined Scopes-of-Work, project schedule and within budget limitations while coordinating activities with others on the engineering team, other departments, contractors, and vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of engineering plans and designs for specific applications.
  • Assist in the investigation and analysis of new materials, equipment, and engineering practices.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, surveys, statistics, conceptual designs, and reports.
  • Assist in evaluating quotations and bids and in developing recommendations.
  • Prepare design sketches, layouts, and schematics as part of a design team.
  • Select materials of construction and components;developsspecifications for materials, fabrication techniques and/or equipment procurement.
  • Develop cost estimates based on specifications, drawings, and material take-offs for work projects.
  • Review and analyze operating data,preparesreports, andmakescomparisons with similar proven designs.
  • Prepare preliminary design drawings using the Auto Cad or similar CAD package anddirectsthe work of consultants, engineers, designers, and technicians as required.
  • Use team management skills to lead the technical direction for WIN Waste during all phases ofa projectdevelopment.
  • Develop action plans andestimatesrequirements for resources--management, labor, materials, and time required to complete projects.
  • Participateonproject team efforts in securing permits and work with local officials and agencies.
  • Assess contractors, vendors and third-party engineers for competence, capabilities, and resources.
  • Monitor progress of project vendors and consultants and compares actual costs with budgets and schedules.
  • Review in detail the work of consultants andmodifiesplans as appropriate if problems arise.
  • Recognize, analyze, resolve, and implement solutions to engineering problems.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and manuals as directed.
  • Effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and thegeneral public.
  • Provide input for periodic reports, detailing project progress and costs for management.
  • Review and study existing equipment, facilities, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and reduce operating or maintenance costs.
  • Work with Operations in troubleshooting plant problems.
  • Communicate with department management all aspects of workso as topromote effective project execution within the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.

Education/Experience:

  • BS degree in Engineering
  • PE License Required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience (power industry preferred).
