Job description

The IBM Public Sector Fulfillment Team is seeking an Intermediate Application Developer for a full-time onsite contract opportunity in Ottawa. - Onsite 5 days/week - 3755 Riverside Drive.
Role description:
This role involves examination, possession or transfer of controlled goods and technology as defined under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and ITAR data/technology. To be eligible for employment in this role, you must be a Canadian citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident. Canadian citizens and permanent residents must be security assessed under the Canadian controlled goods program. If you hold dual or third nationality, in addition to being either a Canadian citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident the nationality must be from one of the following countries in order to be eligible for employment in this role: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, or the United Kingdom.
All applicants will also be required to undergo an additional security assessment conducted by an IBM designated Controlled Goods Program official as a condition of employment.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Canadian Federal Government Security Clearance - Secret level or higher.
  • Must be eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods.
  • 5 years of Low-Level Programming and embedded Systems: Low Level Programming and embedded Systems: programming languages: C/C++ Python bitwise operations and memory management device drivers & firmware development. Networking and communications protocols, industrial and avionics protocols.
  • Integration and interoperability bridging old and new technologies, middleware development (API gateways, event brokers, service mesh, event mesh).
  • Lead small teams, managing routine activities and guide less experienced team members.
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Clearly document solutions that can then be used to support the test team.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication.
Nice to have:
  • Experience in the Defence Industry. Contributed to the evaluation of solutions developed by fellow team members or third parties.
