Staff People Analytics Analyst - Recruiting

Zscaler

San Jose, CA • Hybrid

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

We are looking for a Staff People Analytics Analyst to be the dedicated data science and research partner for our Recruiting organization. In this San Jose based, hybrid role [Tuesday-Thursday], you will be in the room where decisions are made, acting as a trusted consultant and strategic partner to our Head of TA Ops and Head of TA.

We are not looking for an "order-taker" who waits for us to bring them questions. While you will absolutely help us validate hypotheses and fulfill critical ad-hoc requests, your true value will come from your proactive approach. You are a researcher at heart-someone who digs into the data, identifies trends we haven't noticed, flags bottlenecks before they become problems, and brings a strong, data-backed point of view to the table. You will turn raw workforce and pipeline signals into an actionable recruiting strategy.

What you'll do (Role Expectations)

  • Partner directly with TA leadership to interpret complex talent data, craft strategic narratives, and prescribe actionable solutions
  • Lead proactive research to identify hidden opportunities in sourcing channel quality, interviewer effectiveness, market mapping, and recruiter capacity
  • Field specific requests from TA leadership to validate assumptions (e.g., "Are we losing candidates at the technical assessment stage?") and turn these ad-hoc requests into scalable, self-serve insights
  • Own and evolve the core recruiting analytics stack, tracking funnel health, stage conversion rates, time-to-fill, and diversity metrics
  • Build predictive hiring velocity and capacity forecasting models to align candidate pipelines with organizational headcount targets

Who You Are (Success Profile)

  • You are data-driven. You use data and analytics to find the truth, measure what matters, and guide informed decisions with evidence rather than assumptions.
  • You act like an owner. Your passion for the mission fuels your bias for action, seamlessly navigating between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • You are a problem-solver. You are endlessly curious and energized by digging into complex workforce data to solve challenging operational problems.
  • You champion simplicity. You excel at distilling complex statistical concepts into clear, simple, and compelling narratives for non-technical leadership.
  • You are resilient and adaptable. You thrive in a dynamic environment, effortlessly toggling between strategic modeling and executing fast-paced validation requests.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
  • Strong technical background in data science, quantitative research, or advanced people analytics with high proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI
  • Deep understanding of recruiting processes, TA workflows, and applicant tracking system (ATS) data structures such as Greenhouse, Ashby, or Workday
  • Exceptional business acumen and consultative skills with a track record of translating complex data into strategic talent solutions
  • High degree of agility with the ability to manage competing priorities across long-term infrastructure projects and immediate analytical needs

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience designing and deploying self-serve predictive analytics dashboards for enterprise Talent Acquisition leaders
  • Proven track record of developing hiring velocity models that accurately forecast recruiter capacity and pipeline requirements
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field
