Job description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager to join our team in San Diego, California.

Summary
The Electrical Systems Engineering Manager will support project design and documentation needs from proposals and concept drawings through installation drawings and as-built drawings. Position will also support product line including manufacturing support, trouble shooting, design, documentation, and ECO requirements. The platform is a large-scale commercial electro-mechanical sensor array.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage Design and Installation Projects with schedules, BOMs, and tracking.
  • Creates hardware design solutions including mechanical and electrical aspects.
  • Supports product line, generates ECOs/ECRs, designs improvements, identifies part/assembly alternatives, and documents products.
  • Supports projects during sales, installation and maintenance; communicates product capabilities/requirements/specifications.
  • Improves product line using 3D models, ANSI/ASME drafting standards, cable design, and simple circuits (possible PCB/PWB layout) 
  • Performs Engineering calculations using Excel, including thermal analysis, power consumptions, network bandwidth, etc.
  • Grows as necessary in skills and expertise.

Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field preferred or equivalent experience  
  • SolidWorks ability (AutoCAD a plus) with some knowledge of drafting standards
  • Basic knowledge of circuits and programming
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Engineering Standards, especially ECO systems.
  • Management or Project Management experience
  • Understanding of NEMA / IP-rated enclosures and/or sheet metal fabrication
  • Experience with firmware, programming, circuits, and Linux operating systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical assemblies

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 annually, based upon experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be seated for extended periods of time. Requires frequent use of keyboard and mouse, must be able to wear a headset for prolonged periods. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
