Job description

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is actively seeking a highly experienced Product General Manager for our Smart Mobility Platform. This position will be based in the Atlanta, Georgia Office. Based on business needs, travel will be required.
About the role:
Build - and own the business behind - the platform that enables the future of movement.
TransCore is reinventing how people, goods, and cities move - operating at the intersection of transportation infrastructure, cloud, data, and AI, powering mission-critical systems used by governments and operators worldwide. We are building our next-generation mobility platform: the foundational underlay for a wide range of mobility experiences, business models, and partners across cities, operators, developers, and enterprises.
We are looking for a Product General Manager who will own the business, not just the backlog. You will operate at the system level - defining primitives, shaping markets, and turning complexity into reusable leverage - and carry accountability for the category's growth, the platform's commercial performance, and the economics that make it durable. This is a zero-to-one role for someone who wants to create a platform others build on and run it like a business.
How this role is different:
This is not a feature-delivery PM role - you will manage other Product Managers. You will be measured on category position, revenue and adoption, unit economics, and ecosystem growth - with the authority over strategy, pricing, go-to-market partnership, and investment prioritization to move them. You will sit between traditional product management and general management: a product strategist, category owner, ecosystem builder, business operator, and P&L partner in one seat.
The detailed mission, responsibilities, qualifications, competencies, and success metrics follow in Sections 4-8.
Platform & Product:
  • Shape a cloud-native, API-first platform designed for scale, reliability, and extensibility; define abstractions that reduce coupling and accelerate innovation across teams.
  • Translate ambiguous, real-world mobility challenges - movement, events, pricing, identity, real-time decisioning - into modular, reusable, policy-configurable platform components.
  • Balance near-term delivery with long-term architectural integrity and platform leverage; know when to generalize, when to specialize, and when to say no.

Category Ownership:
  • Own the category strategy for TransCore's mobility platform: define the category, its segments, and TransCore's intended position within it.
  • Size and defend the opportunity - TAM/SAM/SOM - and identify new markets, segments, and adjacencies for expansion.
  • Own market-share growth and competitive positioning; run competitive intelligence and act as the internal voice of the market.
  • Optimize the product portfolio for category leadership - what to invest in, sustain, or retire.

General Management & Commercial:
  • Carry a business-ownership mindset for the platform: accountable for revenue growth and the platform P&L relationship (influence maturing to ownership as monetization scales).
  • Own the business case for major investments - build it, defend it, and prioritize investment against ROI.
  • Lead pricing and packaging strategy; partner with sales and marketing on demand generation, go-to-market, and sales enablement.
  • Own customer acquisition and retention strategy for the platform, and oversee unit economics, customer economics, and profitability optimization.

Financial Ownership:
  • Own revenue forecasting and the financial narrative for the platform; participate in financial performance reviews.
  • Drive ROI analysis, investment decisions, and portfolio prioritization; maintain gross-margin awareness and manage toward healthy LTV/CAC.
  • Allocate scarce engineering and commercial resources strategically against the highest-return opportunities.

Market, Customer & Ecosystem Leadership:
  • Own customer discovery, market sensing, and voice-of-customer programs; run structured win/loss analysis.
  • Build executive-level relationships with strategic customers (DOTs, tolling authorities, operators, enterprises) and engage industry analysts.
  • Own ecosystem and partner strategy: third-party integrations, API monetization, developer engagement, and marketplace development.
  • Design for network effects and multi-sided value - make the platform more valuable as more partners and developers build on it.

Executive & Organizational Leadership:
  • Influence enterprise strategy and investment decisions; hold a seat in strategic planning and enterprise prioritization.
  • Own the platform's quarterly business review; be ready for board-level and analyst communication.
  • Lead cross-functionally across product, engineering, design, security, legal, operations, sales, and finance; drive organizational alignment and momentum.
  • Develop talent and, over time, build and mentor the product-business team around the platform.

Required:
  • 8-12+ years across product management and a business-ownership role (GM, business lead, category lead, or P&L-influencing product leadership), including platform, API, SaaS, marketplace, or infrastructure products.
  • Demonstrated business outcomes - not just shipped features: revenue growth, adoption/market-share gains, successful monetization, or category development you can point to and quantify.
  • Zero-to-one experience: launched new platforms, products, or business lines from concept to scale in ambiguity.
  • Commercial fluency: pricing/packaging, business-case development, unit economics, and partnership with sales and marketing.
  • Technical fluency: cloud-native systems, APIs, data platforms, and distributed architectures - able to engage deeply with engineers and architects without writing production code.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to influence executives and align cross-functional stakeholders through insight and narrative.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Strongly Preferred:
  • Experience in B2G, B2B, B2B2C, mobility, transportation technology, fintech/payments, or regulated infrastructure ecosystems.
  • Track record owning or heavily influencing a P&L, forecast, or business line.
  • Experience building multi-sided platforms, partner ecosystems, or developer platforms with network effects.
  • MBA, MS, or equivalent - preferred, not required.
