POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Engineer serves as a hands‑on technical leader, driving the design and delivery of complex, cross‑functional initiatives. This role balances advanced technical execution with team mentorship and coordination, ensuring engineering excellence and high‑quality delivery across frontend and backend domains.
This role will be on‑site in Appleton, WI.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and maintainable software solutions across multiple technology stacks.
  • Serve as the primary technical owner for complex features, services, or modules.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the team, ensuring high code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner with product, UX, and architecture to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to improving engineering standards and patterns.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to ensure operational excellence.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to hiring and onboarding efforts.
  • Champion accessibility, performance, and security standards across the stack.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in team velocity and quality.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in both backend and frontend engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language and one frontend framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and system design.

Preferred:

  • Experience influencing technical strategy beyond a single team.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
