Inventory Control Manager

Reports to: Assistant General Manager, Braen Supply
Braen Supply, the premiere landscape, masonry, and hardware building supplier in the greater tri-state area, is currently seeking an Inventory Control Manager.
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of Braen Supply's inventory management. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining effective inventory control systems and procedures to ensure accuracy, optimize stock levels, minimize product loss, and support efficient operations. The Inventory Control Manager works closely with management, purchasing, production, and sales teams to align inventory strategies with business objectives, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance, while always following the Company's core values of Service, Integrity and Respect.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage robust inventory control procedures and best practices (e.g., cycle counting, physical inventory reconciliation)
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory records and physical counts to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Investigate root causes of inventory variances (e.g., shrinkage, damage, misplacement) and implement preventive measures
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry for all inventory transactions
  • Build accountability and establish consistent reporting across all Supply locations
  • Ensure clear labeling, bin location use, and location codes followed
  • Analyze inventory trends, sales forecasts, and production schedules to determine optimal stock levels and reorder points
  • Collaborate with purchasing to manage supplier lead times/availability and order quantities effectively
  • Identify and manage slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory to minimize holding costs and write-offs
  • Develop and implement strategies for inventory reduction while maintaining service levels
  • Oversee the effective utilization of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within inventory operations
  • Develop and maintain documentation for all inventory control processes and procedures
  • Lead, mentor, and develop inventory control staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Provide training in tandem with Supply Management team, on relevant inventory best practices, across Supply locations
  • Generate and analyze regular inventory reports, including turns, accuracy, and valuation
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management on inventory performance and strategic initiatives
  • Create and maintain reports for leadership on inventory KPIs and trends
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets related to inventory levels and costs
  • Work closely with sales and marketing to understand demand fluctuations and product lifecycles
  • Confirm Just in time delivery status on future orders
  • Liaise with finance and management for inventory valuation, cost accounting, and budgeting

Required knowledge/ Skills/ Aptitudes:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred but not required
  • 5 years of progressive experience in inventory control, supply chain, or operations management
  • Proven experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent knowledge of inventory management principles (e.g., ABC analysis, EOQ, Just-in-Time)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data visualization)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Clean driving record with ability to travel between Braen Supply locations

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of driving between locations
  • Must be able to lift 75-100lbs pounds, at times
  • Mix of office, warehouse, and outdoor yard environments
  • Must be physically fit, able to assist with moving of equipment/supplies, etc. and climb stairs

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • This is a full-time position
  • Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm - Saturday/night work may also be required - Schedule is fluid, dependent upon need
  • Travel between all current and future Braen Supply locations will be required

Salary Range: $85,000 - $104,000 USD Annual, Discretionary Bonus
