Job description

JOB TITLE: Software Engineer II (Python/TypeScript)
LOCATION: Boston, MA (Onsite)
DURATION: 6 Months (possible extension/conversion)
PAY RANGE: $52 - $62/hr.

TOP 3 SKILLS:
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience with proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
  • Experience building and operating production services on AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, and scalable backend architectures.

Position Overview:
We're looking for a Software Development Engineer to help design, build, and scale Bina's agentic AI platform. You'll work at the intersection of generative AI, distributed systems, and compliance automation - building the core primitive that thousands rely on to ship faster and safer.
Purpose of the Team and Key Projects:
Workplace Trust is responsible for privacy and AI compliance for all workers. We are building a GenAI model, Bina, that will automatically review and approve applications to launch to the worker population. This role will join the Bina team and help build the model and automation capabilities.
Bina is an AI-powered compliance orchestration primitive, enabling applications and data processing activities to be "born compliant." We integrate with tools like AZA, Q CLI, and Pippin to provide builders with proactive, consolidated compliance guidance across Privacy, AI, Labor & Employment Legal, IXT, and EEO - reducing review cycles and accelerating product launches. Our team sits within Workplace Trust and is building the infrastructure that makes compliance scalable, consistent, and developer-friendly.
Why Join:

  • Forefront of AI development and learning
  • Automating and building useful things

What You'll Do:
  • Design and implement Bina's serverless backend (API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3) on AWS
  • Build and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and tools that power Bina's agentic workflows
  • Develop integrations with internal platforms (AZA, Q CLI, UBX, Kiro) to meet builders where they are
  • Implement context management, prompt orchestration, and RAG pipelines using AWS Bedrock
  • Build extensible frameworks that allow compliance teams to "Bring Your Own Wisdom" via scripted workflows
  • Implement AuthN/AuthZ flows using CloudAuth and transitive authentication
  • Develop feature flagging, prompt versioning, and monitoring systems to ensure reliable, auditable AI behavior
  • Contribute to hallucination mitigation strategies, confidence scoring, and deterministic guardrails

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript
  • Experience building and operating production services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3)
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and API design
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with generative AI / LLM application development (prompt engineering, agentic architectures, RAG)
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar agent-tool frameworks
  • Experience with authentication/authorization systems (OAuth, transitive auth)
  • Understanding of compliance, privacy, or policy automation domains
  • Track record of building extensible, multi-tenant platforms
  • Excellent written communication - you can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
BENEFITS SUMMARY: Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate or annual salary only, unless otherwise stated. In addition to base compensation, full-time roles are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Commuter and 401K benefits with company matching.
