The consultant will report directly to the sheriff of the clint and provide guidance as it relates to technology and communications (voice, cellular, and data), direction, project management, and implementation of various technological upgrades, ensuring they adhere to technological best practices for law enforcement needs.
General and Network Security ResponsibilitiesAssists in setting the vision, mission, and strategy of the sheriff's office IT organization to securely maximize IT initiatives. Provides the necessary strategic direction on technology platforms needed to safely deliver the applications.
Assist the sheriff in the evaluation and lead delivery of enterprise-wide technology solutions and products offered.
Develop short and long-term plans for technology initiatives within the sheriff's office.
Leads technical architecture, infrastructure, software development and quality assurance, ensuring that the organization can deliver and operate high quality secure technology platforms at the required cost and service levels.
Coordination with the county information technology services division (ITS) and senior management of the client.
Assist in developing and controlling the annual and capital IT budgeting, to ensure that is consistent with the overall strategic objectives.
Attend various meetings as determined by the sheriff.
Coordination and project management of technology related operating and capital projects. Accomplishes special projects related to technology, communications, 911 and cellular services.
Licensing review and recommendations for verification and compliance.
Application software review and recommendations.
Mobile device management review and recommendations.
Review and recommend partnership agreements and or contracts with providers of technology.
Review and recommendations of all IT purchasing for the client. Review of all IT contracts including SaaS agreements.
RFP and bid coordination including creation, review, and recommendations.
Eliminate single points of failure in subject matter expertise by cross-training individuals and transferring knowledge from individuals to teams.
Network Security ResponsibilitiesEstablishment implementation, creation and review of various technology policies including an internal formal cybersecurity policy for the sheriff's office. These policies include both networking and network security disciplines.
Ensures that information security is designed into platforms and operations to meet or exceed industry.
