The Benchmark Company, a boutique research, sales & trading, and investment banking firm, is looking to add an Equity Research Associate to its research team. Primary responsibilities will include supporting a Senior Analyst in covering a broad range of sector-specific stocks; building out and maintaining complex financial models; drafting written research reports; participating in corporate access events; and preparing marketing materials. The ideal candidate will have a background in finance and/or economics with experience in the investment business. The candidate must be able to handle heavy workloads on a compressed timetable, particularly during earnings season, in an organized and efficient manner. The candidate must possess strong writing skills and a firm understanding of investment terminology.
Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Senior Analyst in covering a number of high-profile stocks
  • Maintaining contact with Benchmark's sales and trading platform, global institutional clients and senior company executives with the common goal of developing all aspects of Benchmark's business
  • Building out lead coverage and obtaining market leading client recognition in a number of stocks
  • Interacting with public company executives at corporate access events
  • Providing investment insight and impacting the investment research process

Qualifications
  • Received undergraduate degree in economics, finance or accounting required; CFA and/or MBA a plus
  • Relevant experience in the finance industry, specifically investment business
  • Willing to obtain FINRA Series 7, 63, 86 & 87 Licenses
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience creating financial models is strongly preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience with report design and statistical analysis in a business or corporate environment
  • Ability to execute projects in an independent and/or team environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail are mandatory

Hiring Salary Range $110,000 - $130,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data.) Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan. This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
