Job Description
Title: Java GCP Engineer / Developer
Experience: Minimum 12+ years
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Summary
  • Build, deploy, and maintain backend applications in Java that run on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Deliver scalable, secure services and APIs, collaborate with product and operations teams, and ensure applications perform reliably in production.
Key responsibilities
  • Develop backend services using Java frameworks such as Spring Boot .
  • Design and implement APIs and integrate with databases, caches, and thirdparty services.
  • Deploy and operate on GCP using Cloud Run, App Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, or Compute Engine.
  • Work with data and messaging services such as BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Pub/Sub.
  • Automate CI/CD and infrastructure using tools like Cloud Build, Terraform, and Docker.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot applications using Cloud Monitoring, logging, and tracing.
  • Follow security and cost best practices for cloud deployments.
Required qualifications
  • Strong Java skills and experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
  • Handson experience with GCP services and cloud deployment patterns.
  • Proficiency in RESTful API design , SQL, and one scripting language (Python, Bash).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes preferred).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Good problem solving, debugging, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
  • Google Cloud certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Developer ).
  • Experience with observability tools, performance tuning, and security hardening.
  • Knowledge of frontend basics, GraphQL, or eventdriven architectures.
What success looks like in 90 days
  • Production services deployed on GCP with automated CI/CD and monitoring.
  • Stable APIs meeting performance and reliability targets.
  • Clear runbooks and documented deployment processes.
