Title: QA Automation Engineer
Location: Blue Ash, OH – Onsite
Duration: 12 months + (Potential for extension)
Job Description:
We are looking for 2 QA Automation Engineers with at least 6+ years of IT experience. This resource must have at least 1 year of Manhattan experience. Ideally Manhattan active warehouse management, transportation, labor management - WMS/ TMS/ Yard/ Labor, Kafka testing and API automation (Karate or REST Assured) + UI automation (Selenium or Playwright)

Job Summary
The Quality Engineer supports and executes quality assurance programs in alignment with the QA strategy and Agile/Scrum delivery model, working with minimal guidance. This role focuses on validating application quality across UI, API, data, and event-driven architectures, with strong emphasis on automation and real-time streaming validation.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on requirements and design artifacts, authoring and executing test cases and scripts, and validating both project and production support deliverables. The role leverages technical expertise to design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests while contributing to improvements in application code quality through increased unit and integration test coverage.
The position also contributes to team enablement by supporting testing initiatives through mentoring, code reviews, and continuous improvement of QA frameworks, tools, processes, and best practices.
Desired Skills & Experience
* 6+ years of overall experience in Quality Assurance and software testing within Agile or iterative development environments.
* Proven experience with defect management processes and tools (JIRA, Azure or similar), including defect lifecycle management, root cause analysis, and quality reporting.
* Minimum 1 year of experience using SQL or other query methods to validate data accuracy, integrity, and changes within databases.
* 3+ years of experience applying risk-based testing techniques to prioritize test coverage based on business impact and technical complexity.
* 3+ years of experience with test case design, management, and execution using test management tools (e.g., QMetery,Zephyr, TestRail, qTest, ALM).
* 5+ years of experience working with automated test frameworks and test runners for UI, API, and integration testing.
* 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts with a focus on scalability, stability, and reusability.
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in API automation testing using frameworks such as Karate, REST Assured, or similar tools.
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in UI automation testing using Selenium or Playwright.
* Good to have with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially in validating cloud-native data pipelines and services.
* Experience with Microsoft Azure, including testing applications and integrations hosted on Azure services.
Key Responsibilities
* Execute and support testing efforts including coaching, mentoring, and participating in code reviews.
* Ensure automation test suites are stable, maintainable, and operational.
* Analyze requirements and design artifacts, providing feedback on completeness, clarity, and testability.
* Provide accurate QA effort estimates for test design, automation scripting, test data preparation, execution, and defect resolution.
* Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies, project meetings, and working sessions.
* Assist with building, maintaining, and optimizing test environments.
* Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for UI, API, data, and integration.
* Identify opportunities to expand automation coverage and improve test efficiency.
* Support enhancements to test automation frameworks and execution pipelines.
* Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
* Promote higher unit and integration test coverage to improve application stability and quality.
* Strong experience in testing event-driven and streaming architectures using Apache Kafka.
* Experience in Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Retail domain systems.
* Validate real-time data pipelines by testing producer and consumer message flows across multiple systems.
* Perform schema validation using JSON, Avro, and Protobuf to ensure correct structure, mandatory fields, and data accuracy..
* Perform integration testing between Kafka and downstream systems.
* Execute negative testing for malformed messages, missing fields, invalid schemas, and corrupted payloads.
* Validate data consistency between source systems, Kafka topics, and consumer applications.
* Monitor Kafka topics and pipelines using Kafka UI, Confluent Control Center, or custom scripts.
* Hands-on experience with Pub/Sub or message-based architectures (GCP Pub/Sub, Azure Event Grid, Azure Service Bus, or similar)
* Automate Kafka validation scenarios using REST APIs, custom Kafka clients, or automation frameworks.
