Opportunity available for a Local Minneapolis Backend Developer with strong hands-on experience in Java and Python to join an engineering team focused primarily on backend development, APIs, and services.


The ideal candidate is a collaborative engineer who enjoys modern development practices including TDD, automated testing, CI/CD, pair programming, and continuous delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, Python, Spring Boot, and Groovy
  • Build and support event-driven applications using Kafka
  • Work with distributed databases such as CockroachDB or similar technologies
  • Develop automated tests and maintain high-quality production code
  • Participate in TDD, pair programming, and continuous delivery
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders
  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions
  • Contribute to engineering standards and best practices
  • Provide occasional frontend development support using React


Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on Java development experience
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience
  • Experience developing APIs and backend services
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Strong automated testing experience
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative development environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Kafka experience
  • Distributed database experience
  • Spring Boot
  • Groovy
  • Experience with TDD
  • Pair programming experience
  • Continuous Delivery experience
  • XP/Agile engineering practices
  • FastAPI or other Python web frameworks
  • React experience
  • Architecture and technical design experience

ITR Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, and 401(k) for eligible employees. The pay rate for this role is approximately 75-85 hourly. This range is an estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. The final compensation will be determined by factors such as experience, market trends, and specific job assignments.
