Job description
If you're nodding along, we think you might love it here at VERG Brooklyn. You'd be joining four fantastic Criticalists - kind, collaborative, supportive people who genuinely enjoy working together.
Why Criticalists Love Working at VERG
VERG is a busy, well-established emergency and specialty hospital right in the heart of Brooklyn. Our Critical Care service sits at the center of the hospital, working closely with an incredible group of specialists across Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Radiology, Cardiology, and more.
We receive referrals from more than 400 local practices, so your caseload will stay interesting, varied, and clinically fulfilling. Your skillset will be used! Our large critical care team means that you will be supported. Plus, our thriving internship program means you'll have plenty of opportunities to teach, mentor, and help shape the next generation of specialists.
- What really sets us apart, though, is our culture:
- People listen to each other
- Collaboration is real, not just a buzzword
- Learning and medical growth are important to everyone here
- And we have a team that likes coming to work.
A Supportive, Healthy Workplace
We believe Criticalists thrive when they're supported both professionally and personally. That's why we offer:
- A schedule built around work-life balance
- Smooth case transitions between Criticalists, so you can actually leave at the end of your shift
- An on-site Veterinary Social Worker who helps support the well-being of our whole team
- A community that respects your expertise and genuinely enjoys working together
This is a place where you can do great medicine while still taking care of yourself.

Our 12,500-square-foot facility is modern, well-equipped, and designed to make your life easier. We have:
- Siemens 1.5T MRI
- Toshiba Aquilon 128-slice CT

- GE OEC 9800 C-arm
- A full suite of endoscopic equipment
- Individual surgical suites
- A large ICU with a ventilator, multiple Snyder units, and telemetry
- Separate canine, feline, and isolation wards
- A fenced rooftop dog-walking area with K9 grass

Just minutes from the hospital, you'll find:
- Prospect Park
- Brooklyn Botanic Garden
- Brooklyn Bridge & Brooklyn Bridge Park
- Barclays Center
- Brooklyn Academy of Music
- And of course, all the energy and culture of Manhattan
Whether you're into museums, concerts, food, green spaces, or exploring new neighborhoods, Brooklyn has something for everyone.
