Overview
The CB&I Summer Internship Program is designed to provide college students going into their Junior and Senior years, an office-based experience in the engineering department to help them develop broad knowledge, skills, and abilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate characteristics and perspectives that contribute to a diverse, growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Learn and exemplify the company's core values and Leadership Competencies
- Review and understand industry codes and standards for plate structures and industrial structure design.
- Perform engineering drawings and calculations on CB&I energy infrastructure projects. Individual responsibilities will be aligned with the specific position. Examples are:
- Mechanical Engineer for Plant Design: Design piping systems using industry codes and standards and CB&I's engineering tools, create engineering calculations, bills of material, and engineering drawings; assist preparation of bid documents and estimates.
- Mechanical Engineer for Process Design: Tasks may include supporting Process Design, Equipment Specification, development of a summary report and presentation documentation.
- Mechanical/Civil/Structural for Plate Structures Design: Design and analysis of plate structures, creation of calculations, assist with preparation of estimates.
- Mechanical/Civil/Structural for Construction Design: Design and analysis of structural systems; calculate capacity ratings for proprietary equipment. Assist in review and rating of Proprietary Equipment with Fall Protection Anchors. Review construction methods such as crane rigging and lift plans.
- Regularly introspect, seek feedback, and adapt behaviors for ongoing personal development
- Utilizes communication skills appropriate to the environment, resulting in effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Currently studying towards a BS or MS in Engineering discipline (including Civil, Structural, Mechanical
and Weld) / Construction Management
• Junior or Senior with at least one upper-level design course applicable to our work
• Motivated & outgoing individuals with expressed interest in subjects related to the business
• Demonstrated leadership capability
• 3.0 GPA minimum (overall)
