About your role:

As a Managing Counsel you will serve as a trusted business unit advisor providing legal support for Fiserv's Merchant Solutions division. This support involves drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with clients and other strategic partners; providing practical and prompt legal guidance to business, sales, and technology leaders on a wide range of critical business issues; and collaborating closely with company specialists regarding products, operations, technology, data privacy, security and regulatory matters.

What you'll do:

  • Provide business and product legal support for the Merchant Solutions business.
  • Independently draft and negotiate complex client, partner, and other commercial agreements.
  • Interact with and advise executive management on business, contractual, and risk matters.
  • Actively engage with subject matter specialists from finance, audit, tax, regulatory, privacy, and technology.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 8+ years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house, preferably with responsibilities that included advising on legal or regulatory matters in the financial technology or payments industry.
  • License to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and in good standing, with ability to obtain any additional required licensure promptly upon hire.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have includes:

  • Experience supporting complex commercial relationships in a regulated environment, including handling issues related to financial services, payments, fintech, disbursements, money transmission, or technology platforms.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex corporate or commercial agreements.
  • Experience with complex commercial or corporate litigation, providing exposure to contract interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute prevention strategies to inform front‐end deal structuring.
  • Experience with corporate bankruptcy proceedings, including understanding how contractual rights and remedies are impacted in insolvency proceedings.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site at a Fiserv office location with Legal colleagues. In‐person collaboration is a meaningful component of how we work, supporting effective onboarding, hands‐on training, relationship‐building, and a strong sense of engagement across the team.

Sponsorship:

  • You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.

Benefits at Fiserv:

  • Fuel Your Life program to support your physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being
  • Paid holidays and generous time away policies
  • No-cost mental health support through Employee Assistance Programs
  • Living Proof program to recognize your peers' extra effort with points redeemable for rewards
  • Eight Employee Resource Groups to foster a collaborative culture and expand your network
  • Unparalleled professional growth with training, development, and internal mobility opportunities
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options available from day one
  • Retirement planning including 401k match and discounted shares with the Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Tuition assistance and reimbursement program
  • Paid parental and military leave
