Responsibilities:
Draw high-quality blood samples from a diverse patient base, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring safety and comfort.
Accurately verify patient demographic information and label specimens in the presence of the patient to maintain specimen integrity.
Prepare specimens for lab testing, following established protocols and quality standards.
Maintain precise documentation of all collected specimens and patient interactions, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
Explain procedures clearly to patients, fostering an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Demonstrate professionalism by adhering to safety protocols, dress code, and organizational policies.
Support multiple clinical and patient service locations, demonstrating flexibility with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
Uphold a positive image of the organization through excellent customer service and communication.
Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay current on best practices and procedural updates.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Strong clinical skills in blood collection with a focus on safety and patient comfort.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in high-volume settings.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a focus on patient experience.
Basic keyboard and data entry skills, with attention to detail for record-keeping.
Certification in phlebotomy preferred but not mandatory; required in specific states (e.g., California, Nevada, Washington).
Ability to accurately verify patient information and handle specimens with care.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record if travel is required.
Nice to Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training background.
Previous experience in a Patient Service Center environment.
Experience with medical terminology and familiarity with lab operations.
Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) credential preferred.
2+ years of relevant phlebotomy experience in clinical, pediatric, and senior populations.
Other Requirements:
Travel flexibility to cover multiple locations, including outpatient centers and in-office phlebotomy stations.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical ability to perform blood draws and handle specimens, including standing for extended periods and manual dexterity for venipuncture.
Compliance with all safety, confidentiality, and health policies.
Must be able to secure Northside credentialing if applicable.
