Information Governance Manager

The Boeing Company is seeking an Information Governance Manager to join our Boeing Intellectual Property (BIP) team within the Law & Global Compliance organization. This position will report to the Senior Director & Chief Counsel, Core IP, and may be based in Seattle, WA; Seal Beach, CA; Hazelwood, MO; Mesa, AZ; Ridley Park, PA; Oklahoma City, OK; or North Charleston, SC.
The Information Governance Manager will provide strategic leadership, operational stewardship, and continuous improvement of information governance at Boeing, including policies, processes, and systems. This position manages the team responsible for records management within the company and release of information outside the company, as well as related intellectual property (IP) policy development and training. The role requires significant project management and close collaboration both within the IP team and with enterprise-wide stakeholders, including engineering, functional, and business unit leaders.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of Information Governance employees
  • Manage the company's processes for records and information management (RIM), including management and performance of external vendors, providing RIM expertise in support of quality and compliance audits, and supporting the functions' execution of information management
  • Manage the company's processes for public and proprietary information release, including supporting Engineering review and disposition of release requests
  • Drive improvements to information governance processes
  • Work with IDT&S to identify appropriate technical and administrative controls, such as sensitivity labels, to enhance information protection
  • Update and maintain enterprise policies and procedures relating to IP protection
  • Develop training to educate employees on IP protection topics, including enterprise-level training in coordination with Compliance and for special events
  • Manage and host the Boeing Innovation Awards
  • Drive improvements and manage content and configuration for the BIP website

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Current expectation is a minimum of three days per week onsite. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • Experience in Intellectual Property (IP) policies and procedures (policies, procedures, and processes relating to IP protection)
  • Experience with project management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to influence leaders, present complex technical/organizational matters clearly, and lead high-stakes discussions
  • Experience in developing and implementing process improvement

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Management experience (direct or project-based)
  • Understanding of non-IP based compliance processes relating to information, such as export control and cybersecurity requirements
  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required
