Job description

Position Purpose:

The Online Video Platform Specialist manages the strategy, optimization, and daily operations of multiple YouTube channels for the Gospel Truth Network (GTN). This role will oversee multiple GTN YouTube channels, ensuring they are optimized for SEO, engagement, and growth. The specialist will collaborate closely with the content and marketing teams to ensure video content is effectively distributed and drives engagement, conversions, and channel growth. A central focus of this role is growing and engaging audiences through short-form vertical content (YouTube Shorts, reels, and clips). This individual is passionate about video marketing, understands platform trends, sales funnels, and stays up-to-date on best practices. The ideal candidate has a passion for bringing soul-saving truth to others through video, with a heart to see souls won for Christ.

Essential Duties:

  • Define and implement long-term YouTube channel strategies, including goals, launch strategies, KPIs, and benchmarks for success.
  • Manage multiple GTN YouTube channels, ensuring optimized video titles, descriptions, and thumbnails for improved SEO, engagement, and audience retention.
  • Create short-form vertical content (YouTube Shorts, reels, and clips) to grow and engage audiences - identifying moments with the strongest hooks and clearest messaging within long-form content and edit them into vertical clips optimized for each platform using tools such as Opus Clip, DaVinci Resolve, or similar.
  • Develop a sharp editorial eye for what makes a clip work — strong hooks, a clear message, emotional and spiritual resonance, and pacing that captures attention in the first few seconds — selecting and shaping clips that stop the scroll and convert viewers into engaged followers.
  • Create playlists, post reels, and curate content to drive viewer engagement and maintain a coherent channel structure.
  • Optimize video descriptions to highlight key moments, suggest next steps, and guide viewers toward relevant lead magnets.
  • Conduct SEO keyword research and incorporate findings into video titles, descriptions, and playlists for improved searchability.
  • Manage daily content uploads, live-stream events, and digital media assets while promoting video content through organic and paid channels.
  • Identify and develop strategies for channel growth, enhanced viewer engagement, and improved return on investment (ROI).
  • Work collaboratively with content creators and moderators to implement communication standards and ensure a consistent viewer experience.
  • Oversee and enforce YouTube channel policies, ensuring adherence to platform guidelines and maintaining a healthy community environment.
  • Manage and report on YouTube channel performance, including tracking key metrics and analyzing data to optimize strategies for greater channel success.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the channel marketing strategy, including organic and paid tactics (social, search, and display advertising) to drive audience growth and conversions.
  • Make data-driven recommendations to the content team to optimize video performance for engagement and SEO, including headline optimization for titles and attention-grabbing thumbnails.
  • Collaborate with the content team to optimize static elements such as channel covers and descriptions for ongoing campaigns and long-term growth.
  • Stay current with emerging video marketing trends and best practices, seeking opportunities to experiment and innovate for improved channel performance.
  • Organize, plan, and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring that deadlines are met through effective communication and process improvements.
  • Compile and report on performance metrics regularly, providing insights on progress toward team and organizational goals.
  • Manage and enforce channel budgets in support of acquisition, engagement, and conversion objectives.
  • Maintain file management practices, securely organizing digital assets using ProMAX and SharePoint, ensuring accessibility and data preservation.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for primary job functions to ensure consistent and efficient practices, enhancing productivity and quality.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in YouTube management and optimization, including SEO, analytics, and video marketing best practices.
  • Strong editorial instinct for identifying clip-worthy moments - recognizing strong hooks, clear messaging, and high engagement potential within long-form content, and turning them into short-form vertical clips that grow and engage the audience.
  • Ability to edit short-form vertical content using video editing tools such as Opus Clip, DaVinci Resolve, or similar - trimming, captioning, reframing for vertical, and polishing clips for publication.
  • Expertise in direct response marketing, including the ability to craft compelling copy for video titles, descriptions, and lead magnets to drive viewer engagement and conversions.
  • Familiarity with video platform tools such as YouTube Studio and project management software like Monday.com, with the ability to adapt quickly to new technology and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective cross-department collaboration and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple channels and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical skills for interpreting channel performance data and making data-driven recommendations to improve engagement and growth.
  • Attention to detail and a creative mindset for optimizing video titles, descriptions, and thumbnails to capture and retain audience attention.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, fostering a spirit of cooperation and innovation.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of digital marketing and direct response marketing best practices, particularly within the YouTube ecosystem.
  • Capacity to manage channel budgets and resources, ensuring optimal allocation toward growth and conversion goals.
