Salary: $1,500.00 stipend.
Position Summary
The Yearbook Sponsor oversees the planning, creation, and publication of the Craig Middle School yearbook. This role provides leadership and guidance to students while coordinating with school staff, administration, photographers, and the yearbook publisher to produce a high-quality yearbook that reflects the school year's events, achievements, and student life.
Essential Responsibilities

• Recruit, organize, and supervise the student yearbook staff.
• Teach students basic principles of journalism, photography, graphic design, and yearbook production.
• Develop and maintain a yearbook production schedule to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Coordinate the collection of student portraits, club and activity photos, candid photos, and event coverage.
• Assign students to photograph school events and gather content.
• Review and edit written content, captions, and page layouts for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Communicate regularly with the yearbook publishing company regarding deadlines, proofs, and final submission.
• Work with school administration to ensure compliance with district policies and student privacy guidelines.
• Develop and monitor the yearbook budget, including fundraising activities if applicable.
• Coordinate yearbook sales and promotional activities throughout the school year.
• Organize the distribution of yearbooks upon delivery.
• Maintain records and digital files for future yearbook staff.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and administrators.
• Experience with photography, graphic design, publishing software, or yearbook platforms is preferred but not required.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
• Commitment to fostering student leadership, creativity, and teamwork.

Time Commitment

• Attend regular yearbook staff meetings throughout the school year.
• Supervise student work sessions as needed.
• Attend selected school events to ensure yearbook coverage.
• Additional time may be required during production deadlines.

Qualifications Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as moving/rearranging sports or field equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These employees spend most of their coaching time outside and they are exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.
