Job Description

The Noticiero Writer is responsible for writing daily scripts for live newscasts, special coverage, breaking news and copy-editing correspondentsโ€™ daily packages for Noticias Telemundo and all its platforms. The position ensures that all copy is accurate, clear, and aligned with the networkโ€™s editorial standards and journalistic integrity.

The ideal candidate has experience working in a multiplatform newsroom and demonstrates strong knowledge of social media and digital storytelling. This role requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to write under tight deadlines, and a solid understanding of national and international news. The writer copy edits banners and graphics for broadcast. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and be available to work weekends, early mornings, nights, and holidays, particularly during breaking news coverage.

Responsibilities:

  • Writes daily copy for live newscasts, special coverage, breaking news and copy-editing correspondentsโ€™ daily packages.
  • The writer collaborates closely with producers, correspondents, and editors to develop compelling content that informs and engages audiences across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media platforms.
  • Applies solid news judgment that works along with the editorial line of the network.
  • Writes and copy edits banners and graphics for the broadcast.
  • Translates soundbites, statements, and texts from English to Spanish
  • Identifies and utilizes best video and sound bites for the stories assigned.
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Manager of News Writers
  • Writer is responsible for completing any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Available to work weekends, early mornings, nights, and holidays.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of news writing experience
  • Must have vast knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
  • Minimum 1 year of working experience with iNews
