REPORTS TO: Head of School or Designee
MISSION: Our mission is to cultivate a nurturing environment through meaningful collaboration with families and communities where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally; empowering every child to become a compassionate, confident, and actively engaged learner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Certification in elementary, middle level, or secondary content area required. Special education certification is a plus.
  2. Qualify, at the time of hire, for State of Delaware Certification required.
  3. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college.
  4. Employment with the Academy of Dover is contingent upon successful completion of:
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Child Protection Registry
  • TB Test
  • Verification of Credentials and Past Employment
  • Adherence to Academy Policies and Procedures

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:
  1. Effectively teach middle school English Language Arts.
  2. Effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents/guardians.
  3. Excellent communication, organization, and relationship building skills.
  4. Execute the day-to-day operations of the classroom, including: engaging differentiated instruction, lesson planning, conducting student assessments, classroom management, and parent/guardian communication.
  5. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  6. Attend weekly PLC meetings and review analytical data pertaining to academic performance.
  7. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  8. Assess academic accomplishments and areas of concern for students on a regular basis and provide reports as required.
  9. Work with the special education coordinator to provide an appropriate setting and level of instruction for students with additional needs to include an Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  10. Attend and support after-school meetings and Academy-wide events.
  11. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by laws and regulations.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
