Join Aprio and help ensure the firm is staffed effectively through peak and off-peak cycles. Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm seeking a Director Workforce Planning & Scheduling to lead workforce planning and scheduling across Tax and Assurance, with a strong emphasis on seasonality, deadline-driven demand, and execution over the next 12 months. 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with deep experience managing busy seasons, utilization pressure, and short-to-mid-term capacity planning in a professional services environment.

 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead workforce planning and scheduling for a rolling 12-month period, with primary focus on Tax and Assurance busy seasons, filing deadlines, and peak workload cycles.
  • Own monthly and quarterly capacity planning, aligning staffing supply to forecasted demand, seasonality, and known client deadlines.
  • Analyze trends in utilization, availability, backlog, pipeline, and seasonal demand to drive timely staffing and redeployment decisions. 
  • Partner closely with partners, operations leaders, and practice group directors to balance workloads during peak periods and mitigate burnout, under-utilization, and delivery risk. 
  • Proactively identify seasonal staffing gaps and constraints and recommend practical solutions.
  • Monitor and adjust staffing plans throughout the year as client demand, deadlines, and workforce availability shift.
  • Oversee the execution and ongoing improvement of workforce management and scheduling tools.
  • Track key workforce metrics to support near-term decision-making.
  • Ensure workforce planning and scheduling activities comply with labor laws, firm policies, and professional standards.
  • Lead and support workforce management staff, emphasizing execution, consistency, and responsiveness during high-pressure periods.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment during peak and off-peak seasons.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field; Master's degree preferred. 
  • CPA certification or experience within a CPA-led professional services firm strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in workforce planning, resource management, or scheduling, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. 
  • Demonstrated success managing seasonal workforce cycles, including Tax and Assurance busy seasons. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert workforce data into clear, actionable staffing decisions. 
  • Proven ability to influence partners and leaders in a deadline-driven environment. 
  • Hands-on experience with workforce management, scheduling, or capacity planning systems. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities during peak demand periods. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and workforce management tools. 
$225,000 - $300,000 a year
The salary range for this opportunity is stated above. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range.
