THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50
The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
ACS' Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS) strives to ensure children and youth in foster care receive high-quality services designed to help them achieve permanency, remain safe while in care, and improve their overall well-being.
Within FPS, the Office of Employment and Workforce Development support training, technical assistance, and capacity building for education, employment, and college access programs. The office works with ACS providers and staff to ensure children and youth receive the education, career and college readiness, employment, and supportive services they need. The Office also offers agency staff information on employment and workforce development programs aimed at youth in, and aging out of, foster care. These include career readiness initiatives, mentoring, summer internship programs, career-exploration and planning activities, and employment opportunities. FPS is seeking a highly motivated and detail-orientated Workforce Development Intern to join our team.
As a Workforce Development Undergraduate Intern, you will support our team in day-to day operations and contribute to ongoing projects to support training, technical assistance, and capacity building for education, employment and college access programs. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside a team responsible for implementing career readiness initiatives, mentoring, summer internship programs, career-exploration and planning activities, and employment opportunities. Additionally, as a member of the 2026, ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide event planning support (workshops, trainings, career clubs etc.)
- Assist with developing meaningful agendas and coordinating with community speakers for presentations
- Attend events (workshops, trainings, career clubs, etc.) hosted by the Office of Employment and Workforce Development
- Draft letters, memos, recommendations, and other correspondence relating to the Office of Employment and Workforce Development
- Provide administrative support to the Office of Employment and Workforce Development as needed

- Gain comprehensive knowledge on developing and executing communications strategies
- Develop skills in collaborating across teams towards desired outcomes
- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks and events
