We are looking for an SDM to support the Joining Amazon Organization that is responsible for getting employees from offer acceptance to Day1.

We are responsible for background check, medical check, work authorization, mandatory documents, personal information management, and identity management. We build services to support all Amazon businesses. We are building 1P encapsulated services from the ground up and a new end-to-end experience within A to Z.

We require a visionary leader who can define the future of Joining Amazon. In this role you will be working with multiple tech teams across many businesses. You will lead a team to build the largest onboarding plat form on Earth.

Key job responsibilities

Lead your team to build a brand new product with quality, robustness and Amazon sized scale as top priorities.

Prioritize being a really great people manager. Building, motivating, rewarding and coaching a diverse team of Software Development Engineers is the most important part of this role. You will recruit and retain top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.

Contribute to architecture and design discussions for full stack software.

Lead your team to evolve our service architecture with quality, robustness and Amazon sized scale as top priorities. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.

Set a vision for your team and create the technical roadmaps.

Help your team sort out technical and product requirements and priorities. Deliver product roadmap items and cross-team projects.

Delight your customers. Internalize our customer challenges and derive creative solutions which apply new and innovative technology.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience

  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++ experience

  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience

  • 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience

  • 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
