A Workday Tester is responsible for evaluating and validating the functionality, performance, and security of Workday applications. They design and execute test cases, identify defects, and ensure system configurations meet business requirements. Testers work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to support system implementations, upgrades, and customizations. Their goal is to ensure a seamless and error-free Workday experience for end users.
To thrive as a Workday Tester, you need a solid understanding of human resources or financial business processes, along with experience in software testing and knowledge of quality assurance methodologies. Familiarity with Workday HCM/Finance modules, testing tools such as Selenium or Workday's proprietary testing environment, and relevant certifications like Workday Pro are often valuable. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication make someone stand out in this position. These competencies are essential for accurately validating system configurations, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with implementation teams to ensure high-quality Workday deployments.
As a Workday Tester, your typical responsibilities include designing and executing test cases for Workday modules, validating system functionality against business requirements, and documenting defects or issues found during testing. You may participate in regression, integration, and user acceptance testing, working closely with business analysts, developers, and project managers to resolve problems. A typical day involves reviewing test documentation, running test scripts, reporting on results, and attending team meetings to discuss progress or updates. This role often requires a proactive approach to quality assurance and excellent communication to support smooth Workday system implementations.

Lead regression testing for releases, tenant refreshes, and vendor patches prior to production promotion.

Drive automation of operational workflows and self-service capabilities to reduce incidents and manual effort.
Oversee tenant provisioning, environment governance, and certificate/vendor dependencies.

80-90% automated regression coverage for critical business processes.
