Job description

Role: Business Analyst - Workday 
Location - client location is Rhode Island - remote work is allowed

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the primary liaison between business users, finance teams, and IT to understand issues, analyze root causes, and provide sustainable solutions.
• Support the Workday Finance application by understanding its key modules such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, and Financial Accounting.
• Conduct business process analysis to identify improvement opportunities in financial workflows, reporting, and controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate current Workday finance usage and recommend enhancements or automation to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
• Partner with technical teams to design and validate Workday configuration changes or integrations with third-party systems.
• Proactively identify process gaps, redundancies, and manual interventions that can be automated using Workday capabilities or related tools (e.g., Workday Extend, Prism, or integration solutions).
• Support UAT, change management, and post-deployment validation for finance-related changes.
• Monitor key system and process KPIs to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with business goals.
• Stay updated on Workday Financials roadmap and best practices to advise the business on modernization opportunities.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 8+ years of overall experience, with at least 2–3 years working with Workday Financials (configuration, support, or business analysis).
• Proven experience in finance operations or ERP finance processes (e.g., GL, AP, AR, procurement, budgeting, or reporting).
• Strong background in business analysis, process mapping, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management.
• Experience identifying and implementing automation or process optimization opportunities (e.g., RPA, workflow automation, or analytics-driven improvements).
• Familiarity with Workday reporting, integration concepts, and financial data structures.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to translate business needs into actionable requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and consultative approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Workday Financials certification or training (desirable but not mandatory).
• Experience working in shared services or global finance transformation environments.
• Knowledge of automation tools or analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx).
