Founded in Cleveland in 1944, WLS specializes in short and medium run metal stamping, fabrication and laser cutting to service a wide variety of industries.


Work Performed:

Operate typical tool room machines such as: Engine lathe, vertical and horizontal milling machines, surface and pedestal grinders, drill presses, arbor presses and band saws to produce components to be used in the construction or repair of blanking, piercing, forming, drawing and trimming dies ranging from simple blanking, bending and piercing dies to complex die sets; fits and assembles components to complete the construction or repair; sets up and operates punch presses.


Job Duties:

  • Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements and specifications.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation.
  • Assemble nests and dies
  • Diagnose and correct issues with existing tools
  • Maintain and repair damaged dies
  • Maintain tool room equipment and work area in a clean, orderly condition
  • Follow written and oral instructions
  • Follow all company safety and operations policies
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of shop mathematics, trigonometry and computers
  • Proficiency with micrometers and calipers
  • Must pass basic math and quality test
  • Experience with CNC equipment preferred
  • Experience running wire EDM preferred (EDM programming experience is a plus)
  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented
  • Motivation to learn and develop with WLS
  • 5+ years of experience in tool making/compound die stamping
