Project Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid/Remote)
Type: Contract & Contract to Hire
Duration: 4 Months plus
Pay Range: $60-$72/hr on W2 (DOE)
 
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to plan, direct, and manage strategic projects and initiatives from conception through successful implementation. The Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination across business and IT teams, stakeholders, product owners, vendors, and leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational objectives.
The ideal candidate will have strong project management expertise, excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, experience managing project schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies, and exposure to Agile methodologies. Experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry is highly preferred.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and manage projects to achieve defined goals, objectives, timelines, and funding parameters.
  • Define and document project scope, objectives, schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and budget needs.
  • Lead projects from initial conception through final implementation or take ownership of projects already in progress and drive them toward successful completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Track project progress using Gantt charts, RAID logs, dashboards, and other project management tools.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and provide clear, timely project updates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, business teams, IT teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to establish schedules, assignments, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Identify, assess, track, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Manage project dependencies and resolve blockers to maintain project momentum.
  • Monitor project budgets, financials, resources, and overall project performance.
  • Prepare and deliver project presentations and status reports to various levels of management and executive leadership.
  • Create and maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, status reports, schedules, meeting materials, RAID logs, and other project artifacts.
  • Maintain project information and documentation within SharePoint and other PMO tools.
  • Support requirements development, business analysis activities, testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Coordinate and manage third-party vendors and external partners as required.
  • Apply sound project management principles, methodologies, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively across business and technology teams to support strategic initiatives and enterprise transformation.
  • Contribute to the continued development and maturity of PMO processes, tools, methodologies, and standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and increased project delivery efficiency.
  • Participate in corporate quality and data governance initiatives.
  • Maintain a professional, collaborative, and positive approach when working through project challenges, resistance, and changing priorities.
  • Mentor less-experienced project management team members as applicable.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Strong understanding of systems best practices and quality improvement principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with executives, managers, subject matter experts, vendors, and diverse project teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry.
  • Experience working within a PMO environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Experience with enterprise transformation, technology implementation, or strategic initiatives.
  • Familiarity with healthcare/health insurance applications and business operations.
  • Strong technical project management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • PMP or other recognized project management certification is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching project managers or project team members is preferred.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Facilitate communication and resolve project-related requests and issues across multiple levels of management.
  • Build strong relationships and collaboration across diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Promote accountability, transparency, and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor team members and peers where appropriate.
  • Support coaching and professional development activities for less-experienced project management resources.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and proactive Project Manager who can independently drive strategic initiatives, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with executives and technical teams, and navigate complex project risks and dependencies. Experience in healthcare/health insurance, PMO operations, Agile delivery, project financial management, and enterprise IT initiatives will be highly valued.
