ApTask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Wireless Design Engineer with a technology company. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity located in Santa Clara, CA (5x a week).
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Design Engineer with deep experience designing, deploying, and optimizing enterprise wireless networks using Cisco Meraki and Juniper Mist platforms. This role will be responsible for leading wireless architecture design, performing wireless surveys, and delivering scalable, secure WLAN solutions across corporate, campus, and distributed environments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise WLAN solutions using Cisco Meraki and Juniper Mist.
  • Conduct predictive, active, and passive wireless surveys using tools such as Ekahau or AirMagnet.
  • Develop and maintain wireless architecture documentation including HLDs and LLDs.
  • Perform RF design, channel planning, and power tuning for performance and capacity.
  • Lead deployments, upgrades, and optimization of wireless networks.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot using Meraki Dashboard and Mist AI analytics.
  • Implement and support:
  • WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise
  • 802.1X / RADIUS
  • Guest Wireless
  • VLAN segmentation and QoS
  • Partner with network and security teams to integrate wireless with wired/network identity systems.
  • Provide tier-3 support and root cause analysis for wireless issues.
  • Produce post-implementation reports and network performance metrics.
  • Required Qualifications 5+ years of enterprise wireless engineering experience.
Hands-on experience with:Cisco Meraki WLAN Juniper Mist
  • Strong understanding of:
  • RF design principles
  • 802.11 protocols (Wi-Fi 5/6)
  • L2/L3 networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS)
  • Wireless security best practices
  • Experience performing wireless surveys (Ekahau or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client) for network access control and policy enforcement.
Industry certifications such as:Ekahau ECSE Cisco CCNA / CCNP Wireless Juniper JNCIA / JNCIS
  • Experience supporting large campus, healthcare, or distributed environments.
  • Exposure to SD-WAN, SASE, or Zero Trust networking concepts.
  • Automation or scripting experience (Python, APIs) is a plus.
Pay range: up to $78.57 per hour
