Imagine Staffing is recruiting for a HR / Legal Intern on behalf of our client, a leading provider of digital automotive marketplace technology in Buffalo, NY, this organization connects dealers nationwide through an innovative platform for buying, selling, and managing wholesale vehicle transactions. Leveraging advanced data analytics, vehicle inspections, and logistics solutions, it streamlines the auction process while delivering greater transparency, efficiency, and confidence throughout the automotive industry.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources and Legal teams with a variety of administrative, compliance, and employee-related initiatives. You will assist with maintaining confidential records, conducting research, preparing documentation, coordinating onboarding and policy updates, and supporting employment law compliance while gaining hands-on experience in both HR and corporate legal operations.

  • Designing a practical personnel file structure for physical and/or digital records.
  • Helping evaluate appropriate storage systems and workflows for employee documentation.
  • Developing a Standard Operating Procedure for personnel file storage, access, confidentiality, retention, and maintenance.
  • Coordinating with HR stakeholders to identify required file contents and documentation gaps.
  • Supporting compliance with internal personnel file management procedures.
  • Helping build a sustainable process that the company can continue to use after the internship ends
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
  • Current enrollment in a program related to human resources, law, legal studies, business, public administration, industrial and labor relations, psychology, or a related field.
  • Interest in employment law, HR compliance, employee relations, workplace investigations, labor and employment policy, or corporate legal operations.
  • Coursework or prior experience related to HR management, employment law, organizational behavior, compliance, legal research, records management, or workplace policy preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in employment law, HR compliance, and workplace operations.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with HR, Legal, and business partners.
  • Comfort working with documents, spreadsheets, trackers, and internal systems.
  • Practical problem-solving mindset and willingness to help build processes from the ground up.
