Job description

Certis Biologicals, a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of biopesticides, is seeking a motivated and articulate professional to improve key customer relationships through efforts including Product training, Field trials, Tradeshows, Portfolio adoption, Social Media presence, and Community involvement throughout the Western Sales Division, primarily focused on the Central Valley in California.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide product knowledge training and technical support to key customers in areas assigned by the Western Division Sales Manager.
  • Develop quarterly forecasts, achieve annual sales targets, and deliver monthly progress reports aligned with annual KPI goals.
  • Identify field trial opportunities to strengthen product ROI and efficacy messaging for targeted crops. Trials are to be conducted with key retailers, academic research/extension institutions and/or well-known crop consultants. All field trial outcomes must be collected and shared with Field Development managers for review.
  • Improve sales adoption and overall market awareness by representing the company through participation in professional industry conferences, focused crop events, and collaborating with customers to present product updates at key locations.
  • Collaboration with Product Development, Regulatory, and Marketing teams, providing analysis and market input to support new product launches and market expansion of existing products throughout the Western business unit.
  • Partner with Demand Creation to develop a campaign that matches industry insights with historical sales data of Certis and competitor products that clearly identifies a target for market penetration, sales growth utilizing focused Certis brands.
  • Build distributor/retailer confidence through ongoing product support to speed the adoption and integration of Certis brand biologicals into their crop plans including tank-mixes, application timing, efficacy data, Modes of Action (MOA) and Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Analyze ongoing demand trends, seasonality, and regional variations to effectively generate sales leads that convert into customers.
  • Strengthen Certis brand awareness by influencing key customers through multiple educational offerings that convert initial interest into repeat sales.
  • Manage key distribution and retail relationships and identify high quality leads across gap areas to rank and prioritize sales growth opportunities.
Work Environment / Travel Requirements:
  • The Regional Sales Manager is a remote role but must be located in the Central Valley of California. Travel up to 50% will be required to customer locations and industry meetings throughout the western U.S.
Key Competencies:
  • Must have a proven understanding of biological products in multiple crops and be able to develop effective rapport to expand growth through new outreach and relationships with distribution and retailer networks across the western sales region where the CBIO product portfolio matches key crops grown.
  • Understands customer mindsets and behaviors.
  • Good understanding of the agriculture industry and each of its key components.
  • Knows and understands growing cycles of key crop markets across the western US.
  • Has a broad view and knowledge of all key crops, including the competitive landscape.
  • Excellent communicator and technologically-savvy.
  • Result-oriented and process-driven with a can-do mentality.
Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of BS degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or another Ag related major
  • Education in Crop or Plant Science is beneficial
  • Technical experience and depth in Agri biological technologies and biological solutions
  • Experience in sales or marketing, and/or commercial operations
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast-paced market environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in MS Office tools, and comfortable making public presentations
  • 7+ years of industry experience working in agronomy sales and demand creation, and agronomy technical service roles supporting sales and marketing activities.
The ideal candidate will have leadership, adaptability, and organizational skills with potential for future advancement into positions of greater responsibility for the company’s long-term strategic growth. Location is flexible but the ideal candidate will reside in the Central Valley of California, Sacramento through Visalia.
