Teen Recreation & Sports Coordinator
Boys & Girls Club of Milford
Part-Time | Monday-Friday | 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Position Summary
The Boys & Girls Club of Milford is seeking an energetic, dependable, and engaging Teen
Recreation & Sports Coordinator to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for middle
and high school youth during our after-school Teen Center hours.
This individual will oversee daily gym operations, organize recreational activities, develop sports
programs, leagues and tournaments, and build positive relationships with teens. The ideal
candidate is enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about mentoring youth through sports,
recreation, and healthy competition.
Primary Responsibilities
Sports & Recreation Programming
● Plan and facilitate engaging gym activities each afternoon.
● Organize and officiate sports programs, leagues, tournaments, and daily competitions.
● Introduce a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, kickball,
dodgeball, soccer, and other recreational games.
● Teach sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution.
● Adapt activities for participants of varying ages and skill levels.
Teen Engagement
● Build positive relationships with Club members.
● Encourage participation from all teens, including those who may be hesitant to join activities.
● Foster an inclusive environment where every teen feels welcomed, respected, and valued.
● Help create a positive culture centered around fun, respect, and healthy competition.
Alternative Programming
When the gym is unavailable due to rentals, special events, or other programming:
● Create engaging game room tournaments and challenges.
● Organize activities such as:
○ Ping pong competitions
○ Board game tournaments
○ Video game competitions
○ Team-building challenges
○ Minute-to-Win-It games
○ Trivia competitions
○ Card game tournaments
○ Interactive recreation activities
Facility Supervision
● Maintain a safe and organized recreation space.
● Set up and clean up equipment daily.
● Monitor participant behavior and enforce Club expectations.
● Report accidents, concerns, or maintenance issues promptly.
● Ensure equipment is properly cared for and stored.
Qualifications
● Experience working with youth ages 11-18 preferred
● Background in sports, recreation, coaching, physical education, or youth development
● Strong leadership and communication skills
● Ability to motivate and engage teenagers
● Dependable, positive, and professional
● Ability to remain calm while supervising multiple participants
● CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Schedule
Monday-Friday
3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Approximately 25 hours per week
Some special events, tournaments, and occasional weekends may be required.
