Job description

Substitute Credential Application

The process to apply for substitute certification has changed. New applicants without a substitute nurse certificate must first register with the NJDOE to initiate the application process on the TCIS system. Complete the application form, pay a $125 application fee by credit card, and complete the electronic oath of allegiance. Submit the tracking number to mhaines@tenafly.k12.nj.us. Applicants must also set up an appointment for fingerprinting if they have never been fingerprinted through a NJ public school district, or transfer if previously fingerprinted. Provide a copy of fingerprinting payment confirmation to jwright@tenafly.k12.nj.us. Electronic transcripts should be sent to jwright@tenafly.k12.nj.us or official transcripts can be mailed to 500 Tenafly Road, Tenafly, NJ 07670, Attention: Human Resources. Note that contrary to instructions on the NJDOE website, do not contact the County Office of Education with your tracking number, official transcripts, or criminal history status check. For new applicants, in order to obtain a New Jersey Substitute Credential, the following information must be submitted to Jeannine Wright in Human Resources. Official undergraduate transcripts from your college or university should be sent directly to Jeannine Wright in Human Resources, 500 Tenafly Road, Tenafly, NJ 07670. Photocopy of criminal history clearance letter or payment receipt. School nurses only must also provide a photocopy of New Jersey RN license, CPR, and AED current registration, and electronic or official undergraduate transcripts in originally sealed envelope. Contact Human Resources at (201) 816-4519 for an appointment to pick up additional paperwork. All forms are to be returned in person. A short interview will be scheduled when all paperwork is completed. In order to substitute, the following additional items are required for all applicants: photocopy of New Jersey Substitute Credential or NJ Teacher Certification, a completed substitute application available on Applitrack, I-9 form, W-4 forms, state & federal physical examination Mantoux test for tuberculosis – proof of negative result, New Jersey First Act form, fingerprinting, verification of continuous employment completed & signed by district where prints originated (for previously fingerprinted substitutes).
