Prime Time Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Psychiatric for a travel nursing job in Bangor, Maine.

Beds: 94 Peds 50 beds; Adults 44


Minimum years of experience required: 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes


Patient Types:


Free standing Acute Inpatient facility contracted ER 5 min away
All patients come from an ED and are medically cleared not typical to have lines, drains, tubes, etc.
Involuntary and Voluntary admissions
Ages:  Peds: ages 5-18 years old - Adults: 18+ - Geriatric


Peds: Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to: Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Gender Dysphoria


Adults: most commonly Schizophrenia, MDD, Bipolar Disorder; also will see Eating Disorders, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety


No forensic patients or inmates this facility is locked but not to the extent of holding patients under arrest


Seclusion rooms are used when necessary


Occasionally will see Substance Use Disorder or Detoxing patients on CIWA, but they must be medically cleared


Will provide traditional medical and psychiatric care in addition to specialized therapies such as: pet therapy, group sessions, community gardens

Patient Ratios:


RN: Day 1:5-6; Night 1:13 with resource support (including Nursing support)
Psych Techs:
Peds: Day 6 Psych Techs; Night 2 Psych Techs
Adult: Day 2 Psych Techs; Night 2 Psych Techs


Required Certifications:
BLS
MOAB is obtained on site (part of orientation)


ME State License


Skills required:
De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints (chemical restraints are NOT used), medication passes, comfortability to run groups, documentation
Traveler may have the opportunity to act as Charge, but this is not required
Support on the Unit:

Nurse Manager days
Manager is very open! If there are any issues, manager asks to please come to them as they would like work through issues with travelers.
House Administrator - available overnight and weekends
Charge nurse possibly has patient assignment
Psych Techs
Contracted Phlebotomist for Lab draws
Nurse Practitioner; on site until 1600 and then on call overnight
Psychiatrist daily rounds and On Call 0000-0600
Occupational Therapist 0800-1630, 7 days per week
Security on site will not respond to patient escalations (staff from all 6 units within the facility, to include Techs and Nurses, respond to patient escalations)

If traveler is not comfortable with floating to Peds please request manager approval to offer

Weekend rotation: every other; Sat/Sun
Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
No call
OT is available
Holiday Expectations: expected to work holidays in rotation
Approval
Schedule Cycle: Modified self-scheduling travelers will sign up for preferred shifts, manager/scheduler will review to ensure all shifts are covered and adjust accordingly. Will be informed when it is time to sign up for shifts. If traveler does not sign up during that time, will be automatically assigned vacant shifts. Will have predetermined weekend rotation.
