Job description

Lodge of the Wabash is recruiting a FT/PT Cook and Aide. Weekdays and every other weekend. Nursing Home experience preferred but not required.

The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and prepares meals and snacks per the facility menu for facility residents.

The Dietary Cook’s primary duties include preparing and cooking family style meals for residents of skilled nursing facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of non-supervisory employees in the absence of the Dietary Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
  • One-year institutional food service experience as a cook preferred.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition to supervisor or nurse.
